Keep Kids In Tune

Greensboro Symphony Orchestra String Specialist Karen Collins taught several beginning strings classes to first and second graders at Hampton Academy and Sternberger Elementary during the 2001/2002 season. The classes give children the opportunity to try a string instrument and see if they would be interested in pursuing further study. The program expanded in 2002-2003 to include classes at Jones Elementary. Students in the Beginning Strings program are then eligible to participate in the Lillian Rauch Instrument Loan and Music Scholar program and the Greensboro Symphony Youth Strings orchestra.
