Students are selected from Beginning String Classes for this program based on academics, desire to learn a musical instrument and financial need. Each student in the program is provided with an instrument and a private teacher for three years at no cost to them. The students are expected to maintain excellent grades as well as behavior. Many of the students in the program continue into the Youth Strings orchestra and eventually the GSYO.
